First Week at FreightPlus
Meet the FreightPlus Marketing Intern for the Summer of 2021

Who I Am
I am a rising junior at Bryant University in Rhode Island, majoring in Global Supply Chain Management. I am a part of the Women’s Soccer team and the Honors Program at Bryant. I chose the supply chain path because I am a very logistical and organized person and I wanted to explore careers in the field through an internship with FreightPlus. I have a background in marketing so I am excited to use what I know and further my knowledge!
What I Did During Week 1
After meeting all of the employees, I was able to learn about the different software and systems that we use for marketing. It was interesting to see how much data was used to create the marketing strategy. I met with different people within the organization to learn what they do and how they got to FreightPlus. It was awesome to hear their stories and get some inspiration as to where my career in the supply chain industry could be headed. I got to sit in on a couple of meetings and learned firsthand how we connect with clients to discuss and meet their needs. Finally, I tried to learn as much as I could about the industry and put the pieces together as to who FreightPlus is and what their goals are, so I could apply that to the marketing aspect.
My Goals
I would love to learn more about the supply chain industry, from the customer's side to the trucking side, to the logistics side. I learn best hands-on and I am excited to see the processes firsthand. I am excited to analyze the data to create an effective marketing strategy that will get customer's attention and help FreightPlus. I want to become familiar with all of the terminology used in the supply chain industry (there are a million acronyms) so I can better communicate with both the people I am working with and people in the field. Most importantly, I want to make meaningful connections with the FreightPlus team and learn as much as I can from the experts who have been successful at what they do for many years.
Words of Wisdom
When I was able to meet with many employees this week from different departments to learn more about who they are and what they do, I asked each of them “what is something you wish you knew when starting in the supply chain field?” and I received this advice:
- Value relationships with everyone you meet
- Learn a lot about the data side of things because the supply chain industry is getting more technology and data-heavy
- Learn about the different sides of the supply chain field to see what fits best
- Try many different things to see what you are good at
- Sit in on meeting with the employees and learn firsthand
- Advocate for yourself as a woman in a field dominated by men
I learned so much during my first week at FreightPlus and I am so excited for what's in store. I’m ready for you week 2!
