Expert analysis on the transportation market

The month started rough as the omicron variant of COVID impacted most of the country. Warehouses, carriers, and companies struggled at the beginning of the month as employees recovered. Additionally, TL volume remained incredibly tight early in the month as carrier drivers took some time off. We are just now starting to see capacity come back into the market. While it is normal to see the capacity tighten to start the year, the recovery took a little longer than historically. And lastly, Canada imposed a vaccine mandate for drivers going into the country. The mandate which began the week of Jan 24th can reduce the populations of drivers who can bring a product in or out of the country. Also, longer wait times have been reported at the border as vaccinated drivers produce verification.​
